Nothing But A Misadventure (my best pic story)

Five. Four. Three. Two. One.

Finally, it's already 7 AM and my 12-hour shift is going to an end. Being a nurse is really hard. You have to deal with all the demands of your responsibility as well as the deprivation of sleep especially on night duty. But well, that a calling of the nursing profession. And now, I can finally go home and have a very sound sleep.

Endorsement was done and I finally logged out from my working hours. I am now home bound. Being so tired and sleepy from the night shift,  it seems like I'm floating in mid air with every step I make. I usually take a ride from jeepneys to drive me home so I took a sit from the one in front of me. Midway to my destination, the jeepney stopped over the market place to gather more passengers. The driver shouted out, "Purok Malakas! Purok Malakas!"

Hearing those words I talked to myself, "What!? Am I just dreaming? Did he actually said Purok Malakas?" I was really shaken by what the driver said since I should be taking a jeepney that goes along Dagohoy because I live there. Yes you're right! I got the wrong jeepney.

I laughed at myself to think that it was an honest stupidity. I wasn't able to check the route of the jeepney first before going inside. Well, I don't have to worry. I just have to step out from the jeepney and find another one that goes along my destination. I really felt so stupid that time for not looking at the jeepney's route but I felt more stupid when I realized that I haven't brought with me my wallet. I left it in the house before heading to work so that I could minimize spending my money. What's left in my hand was the last money for my fare so I didn't have any choice but to step down, give the money to the driver and think for a very bright solution.

Good thing there were these motorcycles which we call "habal-habal." I asked one of them to drive me home but I'll just have to pay the driver when we arrive there and finally I was able to reach our house. Lesson learned! Next time I really have to look at the jeep's route before riding in and I should bring with me always my wallet. It wouldn't really happen if only I have my own car to drive.

When talking about cars, I really love to have the new Kia Picanto. It's new key features and design really fits my my standards for a car.

Enough with the cars that are less in space. With the Kia Picanto's manageable inner space, I can choose multiple seating modifications for my car and create a spacious interior. I can actually make it as my bed room!

The car offers a spacious luggage area where I can bring big things with me anywhere especially when going outdoors or heading to the beach.

Automated power windows.
This special feature is really amazing. Imagine if I stick my head out of the window and I accidentally activated the window auto-up operation I wouldn't risk myself from choking since the car would detect an obstruction on the window.

Nonstop music experience.
With its built-in audio system, I can satiate my ears with the songs from Bruno Mars or just rock on my seat with Linkin Park!

Transportation safety genius.
I'm not superman! I am also prone to road accidents that a common driver may encounter. But with Kia Picanto, I can actually minimize the injury with the help of its seatbelt pretensioners. Collision may happen but these safety devices will prevent me from jerking forward.

Overall impact.
Do you like white, silver, red, or lime? You can actually choose the color of your choice! As for me, I like to have the white one. With its stylish look and cool interior, I can make an iconic overall impression of the best car people would really like to have!

To sum up everything, if I have a Kia Picanto I will have the greatest driving experience of my life! Sounds exaggerated but it's true. Plus, no more wrong jeepney rides!

Lately I'm pretty much bored about doing the same routine with facebook.

Darn! I thought this daily activity would be forever! But I found this very interesting game lately on facebook. Really simple yet very entertaining. Oh well, this is just something to enjoy on my free time and becoming of a ninja through FRUIT NINJA.

Fruit ninja is actually a game created for iPhone and iPod touch wherein the goal of the game is to slice a bunch of fruits as you can and create combos to gain high score. Using your fingers, you have to slice the fruits that are being thrown.

Hospital Reflections

Being employed in the hospital as a volunteer and trainee, I have learned many things which the theories in school can't give. Even though the theory and actual practice have similarities, they are still two different environment.

I'm currently working at General Santos City Hospital which is a government owned institution. The hospital caters patients all around the region so we expect myriad of people being admitted daily. I'm presently assigned at the surgical ward and I have learned to love the area. Vehicular accidents and Orthopedic cases are usually prevalent in our area. In my first one month in the area, I have learned so many things beyond what nursing practice may give me. I have learned to reflect with life and appreciate every simple things that go along with our existence. I would like to share some of my reflections with you.

Love your parents more than any other people
Observing all the patients, their parents are there to be right on their side. No matter what will happen to us, the first persons that are always on the rescue are our parents. If we feel the pain, it is doubled to what our mother and father would feel. With these simple reasons, why not give them credits by showing them how much we love them in simple ways.

Be grateful your the one caring and not being cared
I have reflected this lesson in life when I was taking the vital signs of my patient. Her face is actually awful since she was suffering from the postoperative pain. I realized that I am still lucky not to experience what my patients experience - pain, pain, pain, and more pain! Just be thankful!

Be patiently patient with patients
Most of the time patients are restlessness and irritable. Well, we can not blame them with all that they have to pass through with the agonizing pain they have to receive. Let's just have to understand them and not to scold them whenever they try to be so short-tempered. As much as we can extend our patience to the highest limit, the better. We would be doing the same thing if we are on their shoes, right? What they need is love and care, we should give them those things.

Stay healthy through proper hygiene
In public hospitals, we can really expect people from the poverty line and hygiene is one big issue with them. As we all know, being clean is one way of staying healthy and preventing disease to take over us. The problem with these people is they live in unhygienic ways. Our responsibility is to help them learn things to be healthy with simple ways such as hand washing. We can't blame them for being ignorant but we can help them to become educated.

Don't drive when you drink
This quote has been overused but still people won't learn from it. I have seen different people in our ward with vehicular accident cases and most of them are obviously drunk. Would you like to have your own bloodbath plus large cuts and bruises all over your body? If that so, try driving when your drunk. Even though we try to be careful on streets, the problem also is with those who are drunk. We might get accidents even if we are careful on the road. So please, if I have to say this hundred times or even thousand of times. Please "DON'T DRIVE WHEN YOU DRINK!"

As for now, these are just some of my early reflections. Soon I'll have a thousand loads of things to share. Hope you'll learn some and unlearn some. Be safe!

General Santos City Hospital hosted Basic Intravenous Therapy Training Seminar

As most of the hospitals nowadays would require attending to a basic IV training seminar for an IV license before they would hire you, I searched for some institutions offering the said activity here in GenSan in the earliest date possible. Glad to know the hospital which I was absorbed was offering the seminar.

General Santos City Hospital, a government-owned institution, hosted a 3-day Basic Intravenous Therapy training Seminar on June 18-20, 2011 in cooperation with ANSAP, Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines, which is the governing body for IV licensing.

In the three day seminar workshop includes lectures regarding Historical Background of IV Therapy, it's ethico-legal aspects, anatomy and physiology of circulatory and vascular system, pharmacology, and drug dose calculations.

On the first day, we refreshed ourselves with the lectures provided by the speakers which was spearheaded by ANSAP Director Elsa V. Castro, RN, Ph.D. I, myself, was surprised that we had a pretest before starting the lecture. How was that? I'm really surprised since my knowledge on these were already lost but the good thing is I was able to recall the lessons discussed way back college.

Second day was more on return demos which the speakers already discussed before we did the procedures. The coordinators had organized the return demo areas to facilitate ease in mobility of the activity. Return demos included were IV medication through incorporation, IV medication through IV push, TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition), Blood Transfusion, and the much feared IV catheter insertion.

The third day was used to give more time for return demos since not all of the activities were accommodated on the second day. I admit that I'm one of those who attended the seminar who were not really that ready to fall in line and perform the return demo with the preceptor. Since, I have in me my hand-out provided by the seminar, I did not lose track to the things that I should bear in mind.

The seminar was grazed by nurses from different places such as from Davao, Marbel, Tacurong, Isulan, and Midsayap. My partner on the one to one IV insertion was my schoolmate at Notre Dame of Midsayap College. I got really excited to the catheter insertion since I want to feel how the patients feel when the IV catheter is inserted to them. By the way, the IV cannula used was gauge 24 which means that it is color yellow and is usually smaller.

On the one on one IV insertion, I got two tries before I successfully inserted it. Not bad though. My partner had also performed it twice of me before it became successful. That was really painful though but I enjoyed it. For me, that's a great challenge since you were aware of the pain that you are about to receive.

Overall, I enjoyed the seminar. What I really like was the food since the registration fee has included snacks for the morning and afternoon as well as a lunch which consisted of 3 different delicious viands plus you can request for an extra rice. By the way, the registration fee was P3,500.00 inclusive of hand-outs, IV license card, and meals.

I really don't know what's the meaning of BBM before. I'll surely be a laughing stuff if I'll ask about it with my friends and surely they will have it posted on my friends' BBM group. It was then when I finally have to research about it when my ultimate crush Jessie Mendiola had uttered the word "BBM" on a live interview from a talk show. I was really disturbed by that word so I googled it up and was finally enlightened by the answer, BlackBerry Messenger! Shame on me I did not know that one (but now I do!).

Feeling like I had new learnings, I did not stop by simply looking for its meaning. I also looked after its features and what could it offer me. I am pretty impressed by how it works that's why I shared the video BBM Flirt presenting the great feature I really love from it.

One thing I like from BBM is its security feature through the use of a bar code. In order for some people to add you up in their contact list, they still need to have your bar code flashed on their phone and vice versa. But if I'm the one being asked, I will not hesitate to give my bar code. Don't get me wrong, I just want to have many friends.

The best thing I really love about BBM is the real-time confirmation feature of messages. You can actually get informed when the message has been delivered to the recipient or if the message has been read by the recipient. Now, nobody can lie anymore about not receiving the message or if the message was not read. I encourage those who are in a relationship to use BBM! No lies can succeed! LOL! 

You can also share your photos, videos and a whole lot more through your multiple contacts at one click! If you like others to find you, you can actually share your location through its GPS feature. If I get lost, letting others track me down is just a click away!

With its great additional features like personalized picture display, unlimited character length for messaging, contact groups, emoticons for BBM chat and sharing what music you are listening to, anyone can actually live on it in the new way chatting and sharing should be enjoyed. I'm really amazed BlackBerry Messenger got all the features you need to express yourself in your own creative way!

Have a Boom with Divoom Divo!

I definitely admit that I'm a computer addict. I can live without using my cellphone but I can't without my laptop. I hate blogging!

There's this feeling inside me that's really irritating. Totally intimidating that makes me unable to sleep every night to the extent that I already availed dark circles over my round eyes. I think of it every time. Anytime within the day it comes across my mind. I think this has become a syndrome. An impending doom that is far beyond anyone could ever imagine in their most sane, rational, sound state.

Oh well, blogging is really becoming viral. Like a creeper that seeps my native innocent blood.

I HATE BLOGGING!

I hate blogging because it keeps me all day and all night. I may notice how the battery of my laptop starts to drain but I am pretty blind that it's already lunch or it's already dinner. I may notice that my eyes are already burning over the radiation emitted by the screen but I'm totally oblivious of the grunts my stomach tries to imply.

I hate blogging because I feel like it breaks my brain into pieces as I try to concentrate on the best words to suit my sentences in a way effective to transmit the meaning of each word I embedded within the paragraph. I feel like a hammer is pounding over my temporal lobe just to squeeze out every little possible idea that would certainly be spontaneous in giving satisfaction to anyone who would come across to read what I personally express. I digested new words which were far beyond the limit of my vocabulary box. Gladly, I survived!

I hate blogging because it makes others know how I feel and how I would certainly feel in the next days. It's like they are watching Maalaala Mo Kaya on a random basis. People would certainly have their reaction over my thoughts and personal expressions of everything I would like to share. People may get inspired by my words. Others would certainly have negative feedbacks and comment on how I think. But I am not afraid. I'm firm with my principles and the way I think. At least I'm glad you were able to read what I write. If I'm going to write a book about my autobiography, together with my life's journey and adventures, I would certainly defeat JK Rowling's Harry Potter. I would certainly have 20 volumes to date! Yes I am a common guy but I got loads of things to share.

Hate can not be only encapsulated in the boundaries of being negative.

Hate can also be expressed in a positive way which are beyond the understanding of others. Hate can also be an expression of being overwhelmed by the love you have from it. That's why I believe that the more you hate, the more you love because in every hate lies love in its core.
