Trekking the Amsikong Falls in Conel, General Santos

Being almost hooked up for work, my coworkers and I decided to destress a little bit and have time to recreate. We've heard about this waterfalls not so really far (just a little bit) from the city proper and decided to visit the place. It is known as Amsikong Falls located at Barangay Conel, General Santos City. I never thought there are waterfalls on that barangay but I must say to see is to believe.

To reach the destination, you must need to take a tricycle ride, or habal-habal will do,
from the public market. You will know if you're already at Barangay Conel if you see this arc along the road you're taking.

Upon reaching Conel, we headed to the Barangay Hall where you need to have a courtesy call at the barangay captain's office and have your name logged on their record before visiting the place. I'm really excited to trek the land to reach the spot but we were advised to take a motorcycle ride and trek the remaining because it's really far.

We didn't have a hard time looking after habal-habal drivers because they were readily available thru the help of our local tour guide as they were contacted by him. So we took their advice and hopped over the motorcycles and off we go the spot. Anyways, we paid P300 each for the round trip.

Aside from the excitement that I have to see the waterfalls, one thing I enjoyed was the ride. It lasted more or less about 30 minutes and you'll go over bumpy roads, rocky riverbeds and inclined hill tracks. It was an off road ride pleasure where you can have good view of nature of the whole place. IT'S AWESOME!

After the ride, you need to trek the remaining track. Upon traversing the heart of the place, you'll find yourself walking along rivers, climbing over big rocks, grasping on the grass of the hills and the most challenging one was wall climbing - and that's without harness!

After the challenging trek trails, we've reached the first waterfall. Anyway, our trek guides told us that there are seven falls along the journey but they were not sure if we'll get to the seventh considering the time we went there. So here's the first waterfall.

We ended up on the second waterfall because it's already getting late the trek guide would not let us push forward anymore for safety purposes. One of the trek guides told us that there is also a cave along the journey to the waterfalls and they have called it the Queen Cave. The Queen Cave is as big as two buses combined. I was eager to see it but we were already not allowed. So we just took a dip at the waterfalls and it's really cold but refreshing at the same time.

Overall, I enjoyed the adventure. It's like discovering my mountaineering side. I would highly recommend trying this experience also to those residing in the city as well as others that are interested. Being away from the fuzz of the busy environment of the city even for just a single day was really enough to recreate and relax my mind from the stress and exhaustion from work.

I would like to advice to those who are planning to try this to bring just only the necessary things like water, money, extra shoes or slippers (in case what you're wearing gets ripped off), camera (OF COURSE), food and your Spirit for Adventure! LOL!
